05/12/15  Rain Should Not Affect Marks Mills Civil War Re-enactment

The battle of Marks Mills will be reenacted in Fordyce this weekend. Bill Farmer of Bearden, one of the organizers of the event said even if it rains the battle will go on unless it's a virtual downpour, he went on to say preparations are coming along great.

The battle begins at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday and Farmer says there will be an opportunity for the public to stroll through the area to see up close and personal the enactors and equipment used in the battle.

The first annual knife show will be going on at the National Guard Armory and you can buy a raffle ticket and possibly win a Bowie knife similar to the one the confederates worn in battle.  T-shirts are also available at the Dallas County Museum and while you're there don't forget to look at the new civil war display.
