05/07/15  Love-Drug Charges

A 19 year old Pine Bluff man has been charged in Jefferson county circuit court on drug charges that stem from his arrest on April 13 following a traffic stop on North Richard in Pine Bluff. Dalontae Love has been charged by the prosecutor's office of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a controlled substance and theft by receiving. According to a probable cause affadavit filed with the court, Pine Bluff detectives Ablondi and Kirk were patrolling an area north of North Richard when Ablondi noticed a gold Honda Accord driving on the wrong side of the road.  The officers stopped the vehicle, driven by Love, and while talking with Love, the officers noticed a green vegetable-like substance on the front floor. Ablondi asked Love about the substance and he admitted he smokes marijuana.

Love and a passenger in the vehicle were asked to step out of the vehicle and a silver pistol was found between the passenger's seat and the door.  The two men were then placed in hand cuffs.  A vehicle search uncovered a hand rolled cigar and a digital scale.  In the trunk the officers found two glass jars filled with the green leafty substance.  A check was run on the handgun and it was stolen from Hunter's Refuge.  The license plate was fictitious.  The vehicle was seized due to the amount of suspected marijuana. Love was booked for felony  theft by receiving, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. Ellison was released pending further investigation.
