04/27/15  54 Female Prisoners Train Them For Life After Prison

 

The  re-entry center, located on west 13th in pine bluff was opened Saturday by the Arkansas Department of Corrections. Arkansas department of correction spokeswoman Cathy Fry said 54 female prisoners were moved there to train them for life after prison. The building had been used for treating people with substance abuse.  Frye said the building has been renovated and there is space for staff. Frye said these women are still incarcerated but are learning occupation skills.  In order to be eligible for the program inmates must ee within 30 months of their parole date. In order to qualify for the program the women must have never been convicted of a violent crime and have a clean disciplinary record in prison.
