04/27/15  Rabies Cases Down for South Arkansas in 2014

 

According to information released recently by Dr. Sue Weinstein of the Arkansas Department of Health, there were no rabies cases reported In 2014 in most of the counties in Southeast and Southcentral Arkansas. The counties that did report rabies cases were Ouachita, which reported Three cases in bats.  Grant, Lincoln and Drew counties each reported one case of rabies found in dogs. There were a total of 151 cases of rabies reported in the state last year.  109 cases in skunks, 34 in bats.  Three cases in cattle and cats.  One case in dogs and one in a fox. 

Most of the rabies cases last year were reported in May.
