04/27/15  Farm Services Acreage Report is a Must

Randy Floriani of the Farm Service Agency for Dallas and Cleveland Counties, emphasizes to livestock producers that an accurate and timely acreage report is a requirement to receive livestock forage program benefits, based on the 2014 farm bill. The livestock forage program can provide benefits to livestock producers on pasture losses due to drought conditions. During the most recent livestock forage program sign-up, producers were allowed to make late filed acreage reports, with the fee being waived, but that is not the case this year.

The acreage report is required to establish eligibility of the crop and Producer livestock forage program.

If you fail to make a timely acreage report and the county is designated for the livestock forage program, a late filing fee would apply. Evidence of the crop and disposition must be determined to be accepted. The late filing fee is thirty dollars plus $16.00 the first hour and $8.00 every thirty minutes after the first hour. There's a one hour minimum. Contact your nearest farm service office for assistance. In fordyce you can call 352-2630 and ask for Kaci Kizer or Randy Floriani.
