04/22/15 Dallas County Quorum Court Cleans Up Operating Budget

The Dallas County Quorum Court met in regular session Tuesday night with all J.P.s attending. There was considerable discussion at the meeting regarding an ordinance to clean the current operating budget. They voted unanimously to allow for over $193,000 needed by various departments of county government.  The funds were allocated from the 10% hold back and transfer of funds from other departments.

Judge Jimmy Jones was adamant in saying that the overages cannot continue and that the department heads would need to work harder at staying within their budgets. The judge said the problem has been going on now for some time. He said Calhoun and Cleveland counties have had to go to the people to ask for a sales tax increase for the general fund. Judge Jones announced he would not ask Dallas County residents to do that.
